Every Toyokra piece is cut and finished by hand in our Lübeck workshop, stamped with the maker's mark, and shipped with the wood species named on the label. No batch runs. No plastic.

Evening workshop in Lübeck. Three hours, hand tools, timber provided. Groups of four maximum.

How we work
Some things people ask before ordering.
Not a sales section. Just the things that come up in nearly every email we receive.
Beech for things small hands will grip — it's dense and doesn't splinter. Ash when the piece needs to be lighter or has longer parts. Maple occasionally, when the grain suits a particular shape. All timber comes from FSC-certified sources in northern Germany and Scandinavia.
Two to three weeks from order confirmation to dispatch. We don't do rush orders. December is fully booked from the beginning of November — order early if you need something for the winter holidays.
We use only food-safe linseed oil and beeswax on pieces intended for young children. Some decorative pieces for older children use water-based pigments that meet EN 71 toy safety standards. The finish used is always stated in the item description.
Yes, across the EU. Packages are wrapped in kraft paper and unbleached tissue, no bubble wrap. Shipping to most EU countries takes three to five working days. We don't currently ship outside the EU.

How we choose wood for a children's toy
Beech doesn't splinter. Ash bends without cracking. Maple takes colour evenly. These aren't marketing claims, they're the reasons behind every material decision we make.
What actually happens during an evening workshop
People arrive expecting a class. What they get is closer to an afternoon in someone's garage — with better timber and someone nearby who can answer questions.
Why a painted toy isn't the same as a finished one
Paint covers. Oil and wax feed the grain. The difference matters when the thing will spend years in small hands.
